History: Lotus originally made about 2,500 Lotus 7s from 1957-1974. The Series 3 chassis had the final refinements of the original Lotus 7 concept and are considered by many to be the most desirable of the original Lotus Sevens due to the additional chassis tubes, crossflow Kent engine, and the much-stronger Cortina rear axle. (The later Series 4 cars had enclosed bodywork and strayed from the original 7 concept). In 1970, Lotus sold the rights to the Series 3 Lotus 7 to Caterham Cars, who took over production in 1972, which continues to this day. One of 340 Series 3 cars manufactured between 1968-1970 at the Lotus factory in Hethel, Norfolk, England, #2352 came to the USA in the 1970s, living mostly in the Pacific Northwest (Seattle area) before coming to Colorado in 1999. Having driven across the country at least three times and visited at least 40 US states, #2352 is one of the most travelled original Lotus 7s and has been extensively featured online, in books, and in magazines, including Road and Track, Car and Classic, Low Flying, Lotus ReMarque, and others.
